Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karelin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Aleksandr Karelin Intro. Alexander Karelin has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jason Knight's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alexander Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin is looking to clinch but Knight is avoiding it.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Karelin.

Knight gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Karelin looks gassed!
Karelin trying to control but Knight is working from the bottom.
Knight is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Knight avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knight wants to improve his position but instead Karelin has moved into half guard.
Karelin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Karelin stops Knight from getting back to his feet.
Karelin is trying to control the action in half guard but Knight is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Karelin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Knight sprawls well. Knight wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Karelin gets slowly back to his feet.

Knight shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Karelin napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Karelin is trying to control Knight's posture but Knight avoids it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Knight trying to control the position but Karelin is working away.

Knight tries to stand but Karelin is controlling his head.
Karelin is looking for a sweep.

Knight is looking to take a break and control but Karelin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Knight will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Knight just content to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Knight will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Karelin won't allow Knight to get back to his feet.

Karelin prevents Knight from getting back to his feet.
Knight lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Karelin!
Knight can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Karelin is looking to escape.
Karelin is breathing heavily.

Knight looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Knight trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Knight can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Karelin is looking to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Karelin can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Karelin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Knight shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Knight was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jason Knight just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Karelin fails with the takedown
and Knight connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Knight lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Alexander Karelin has been cut.
Karelin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Knight moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Knight scores with a nice head shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Knight's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Knight duly obliges.

Knight gets the takedown into side control.
Karelin is not content to let Knight control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Knight moves into full mount!
Karelin is squirming around, avoiding Knight's attempts to control the action.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Knight controlling from the full mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jason Knight showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Knight has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
