Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Stephens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as John Stephens enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Stephens!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim jabs at Stephens's body.
Kim lunges at Stephens with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Stephens's hand.
Kim wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stephens looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kim lands with a cross.

Stephens drives through and clinches with Kim against the cage.

Stephens manages to pull guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Stephens working for a triangle but Kim defends it easily.

Stephens is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kim defends well.
Stephens looks gassed!
Kim has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Stephens is proving hard to escape from.
Kim controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kim won't allow Stephens to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kim seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Stephens looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Stephens has a closed guard, preventing Kim from standing up.
Kim sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Stephens has his foot on Kim's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kim works his way back into a safe position though.
Kim not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Kim wants to stand but Stephens is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kim wanted to stand there but Stephens had control of the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kim wants to control from the top but Stephens keeps moving.
Stephens is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stephens shoots for a double leg takedown but Kim sprawls well. He's pushed Stephens's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kim scores with a nice strike.
Jay Kim is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kim closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Stephens misses with a takedown attempt - Kim sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A right-left combo lands from Kim.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kim lands with a shot to the body.
Good shot there by Kim.
Kim throws a good cross that connects.
Kim connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Kim dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kim with a nice cross.
Kim misses with a double jab.
Kim circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kim cracks Stephens with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


Stephens is rocked!
Kim throws an uppercut from hell that sends Stephens clean off his feet! He's out cold! Kim stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jay Kim!
