PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregg Organa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Master's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Scars. Organa comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Creeping death kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Master!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Gregg Organa!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Master with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Organa feints and as Master raises his hands in defense, Organa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Organa postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Master is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Organa, into his guard.
Master wants to control from the top but Organa keeps moving.

Organa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Master doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Master manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Organa has his foot on Master's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Master works his way back into a safe position though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Organa can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Organa shoots in but Master avoids the takedown attempt easily.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Organa.
Master tests Organa's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Organa on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Master smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Master tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Organa gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Organa shoots in and drives through. Master sprawls well.
Ray Master has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregg Organa.
Master wants to clinch up but Organa keeps it at a distance.

Master tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Organa paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Organa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Master's guard.
Organa is looking to advance position but Master has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Master lands a nice shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Organa is working to get back to half guard.
Master tries to control but Organa wriggling away.
Master has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Master putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Master with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Master is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Organa has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Master is breathing heavily.
Organa is desperately trying to improve his position but Master has a good base and remains in mount.
Organa is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Master lands with some strikes.
Organa is trying to escape the mount.
Master looking to control but Organa is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Master is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Organa to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Organa shrugs it off.
Organa keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Master dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Master shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Organa as he avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Master looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ray Master seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Organa drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Organa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Master swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Organa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Organa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Master dives on top into guard.

Master thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Organa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Master can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Organa controls Master momentarily but Master frees himself.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Master tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Organa paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Organa counters by moving into the clinch.
Organa avoids a wild elbow strike from Master.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Master takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Organa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Master walks away with a smile on his face. Organa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Organa throws a push kick but Master slaps the foot to one side.

Organa scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Organa stalling away here and it's allowed Master to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Master is looking to stand up but Organa isn't so interested in that idea.
Organa wants to pass the guard but Master is keeping the position.
Master can't keep his opponent in guard - Organa advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Organa trying to control the action but Master is working from the bottom.

Master avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Organa.

Organa looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Organa is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Master has managed to free his arm - good work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Master closes the distance looking to clinch

and Organa counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gregg Organa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Master. No joy for Organa on that attempt.

Organa drops back, looking for a kneebar! Master looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Master looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Master!

Organa tries to bench press Master off him but Master keeps the position.

Master is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Organa defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Master's arms.
Organa rolls, trying to escape but Master keeps control of the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Master lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Organa.

Master looking to break Organa's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Organa remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Master will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Ray Master overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Organa covering up well under a series of strikes from Master.
Master doesn't have the hooks in and Organa manages to turn into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Organa tries to free his leg and advance position but Master is retaining full guard.
Organa controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Organa wants to pass the guard but Master is keeping the position.
Organa passes Master's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Organa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Master is just riding it out for now. Organa eventually gives up the hold.
Master is controlling Organa's trapped leg to prevent Organa from advancing to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ray Master showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Master has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
