The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barrett just misses with a punch to the body.
No joy there for Barrett, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Alexander ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A combination from Barrett does no damage.
Barrett misses with a two punch combination.

Barrett throws a series of punches but Alexander avoids them all with ease.

Barrett has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Barrett lands a right hand that snaps the head of Alexander backwards.

Alexander jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Barrett walks away with a smile on his face. Alexander gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Barrett lands a really nice looking cross but Alexander seems unphased.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Alexander counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Barrett's guard now.
Barrett doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Alexander drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alexander jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Barrett tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Barrett controls Alexander momentarily but Alexander frees himself.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Barrett connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Alexander tumbling to the canvas! Barrett pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Alexander was done - good stoppage!
