Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simba Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Devenay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Shook Ones Pt 1. The crowd seem to be enjoying Devenay's choice of entrance music: Best Around. Simba Burns could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Gary Devenay's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Simba Burns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Devenay!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns with a hook.
Devenay misses with a hook.
Burns walks into a stiff left hand from Devenay.


It looks like Simba Burns has been cut.
Gary Devenay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burns misses with a wild body shot.
Devenay uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Burns.
Devenay just misses with a punch to the body.
Burns takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Devenay jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Devenay misses with a double jab.
Burns connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Devenay paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Devenay looks to throw the jab but Burns is out of range.
Devenay thows a left - swing and a miss!

Devenay gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Burns to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burns trying to control but Devenay is working from the bottom.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Devenay swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Devenay controls Burns momentarily but Burns frees himself.

Devenay looking for a guillotine here but Burns defends easily.
Burns wants to pass the guard but Devenay is keeping the position.

Burns drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burns jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Devenay looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Devenay throws a hook to the side of Burns's head but Burns sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Burns scores with a jab. Devenay acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Burns scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Burns throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Devenay counters with a stiff right hand.
Burns misses with a straight left.
Devenay lands a nice hook to Burns's body. Burns takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Devenay thows a left - swing and a miss!
Devenay gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Burns counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Devenay is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Burns pulls his head out easily.

Burns tries to pass to full mount but Devenay defends it.
Burns is working hard here to advance position.

Burns looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Burns is breathing heavily.
Devenay regains full guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Burns advances position into side control!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Devenay wants to control but Burns postures up.

Burns is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Devenay is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Devenay tries to buck Burns off but Burns is having none of it.
Devenay can't do much from the bottom here.
Devenay is looking to regain half guard here but Burns keeps moving and retains side control.
Devenay sneaks back into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Devenay wants to control but Burns is keeping busy.

Burns is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Devenay has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Burns counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Devenay tries to roll over but Burns keeps him under control.
Burns is pressing down on Devenay's thigh, looking to free his foot. Devenay is holding on for now.

Burns is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Devenay doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Burns.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Devenay misses with an uppercut. Burns saw that one coming.
Devenay throws out a loose jab but Burns uses good head movement to avoid it.
Devenay misses with a looping left.
Devenay might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Devenay swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Burns shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Burns seems to be looking for submissions.

Devenay wants to improve his position but Burns is controlling well.

Burns is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Devenay is trying to maintain the position but Burns is very close to passing his half guard.
Devenay is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Burns is staying active.
Devenay is not content to let Burns control the position.
Devenay is trying to control but can't.
Simba Burns overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Burns moves away from the strike by Devenay.

Burns closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Burns lands in his opponent's guard.
Burns tries to free his leg and advance position but Devenay is retaining full guard.

Burns drops back, looking for a kneebar! Devenay looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Devenay looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Devenay!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Devenay waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Burns.
Nice sprawl there from Devenay as Burns shoots in.
Nice straight punches there by Devenay. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Devenay.
Burns slips under a jab from Devenay.
Devenay looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Burns is fending him off so far but Devenay persists. Nope, Burns circles away and we're back to standing.
Devenay displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Burns throws out the jab.
Burns misses with a wild body shot.
Burns shoots for a takedown but Devenay saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Burns lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Devenay circles away quickly and effectively.

Burns is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Burns cracks Devenay with a right hand to the side of the head.
Nice defenses there by Burns.
Burns lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Burns.
Devenay misses with a body shot.
Devenay throws an overhand right that lands on Burns's shoulder, as Burns tries to avoid the shot.

Burns looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Devenay!
Gary Devenay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Burns trying to control but Devenay is having none of it.
Burns wants to take Devenay's back but he can't do it this time.

And that's the end of the fight!
Simba Burns showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Burns, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
