The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aoki fails with a takedown attempt.

Aoki shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bato is trying to defend but Aoki finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Aoki is keen to just control but Bato is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Aoki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bato was covering up waiting for the punch and Aoki finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bato escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Aoki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
