PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Spart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Spart!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spart is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Spart fails to land the takedown.
Carter punishes Spart's body with a nice straight punch.
Spart looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carter is fending him off so far but Spart persists. Nope, Carter circles away and we're back to standing.
Spart drops his hands momentarily and Carter takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Carter thuds a left hand into Spart's body.
Carter keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Shane Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Spart.

Carter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Spart preventing the sweep.

Carter looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Spart makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Carter looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Spart working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Carter looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Carter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Spart doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Spart manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Spart tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard.
Spart postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Spart makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Spart accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Spart scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carter is on top in guard.
Carter stops Spart from standing up.
Spart looks gassed!
Carter slips nicely into half guard.
Carter is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Spart!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carter sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Carter with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Spart squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Carter wants to control the pace but Spart is squirming around nicely.
You get the feeling that Spart really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter throwing strikes here but Spart is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Spart has given up his back.
Spart wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carter has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Spart! Can he survive? No! He's out! Carter gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Shane Carter!
