The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gulag throws a nice inside leg kick.
Karlsson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gulag.
Karlsson fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Gulag. No joy for Karlsson on that attempt.

Karlsson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gulag is trying to defend but Karlsson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Karlsson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gulag does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gulag is defending against the submission attempts here by Karlsson.

Karlsson is working for a submission of some sort.
Karlsson is taking a breather. Gulag says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Gulag feints and then cracks Karlsson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Karlsson down.
