Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Cayden Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Puukko Allu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cayden Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Puukko Allu!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Allu. No joy for Johnson on that attempt.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Allu as he jumps to the side.

Johnson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Allu wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Johnson trying to control the position but Allu is working away.

Allu is trying to buck Johnson off.
Allu is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Johnson looks for a takedown but Allu sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cayden Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allu looks gassed!
Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Johnson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Johnson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Allu keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.
Allu is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea.

Johnson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Allu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Allu drops back, looking for a kneebar! Johnson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Johnson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Johnson!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Allu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Johnson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Allu decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard.

Johnson wants to sweep but no luck.
Allu connects with a couple of short punches.
Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Allu postures up.

Allu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Johnson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Allu has Johnson in his guard.
Allu is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Allu is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Allu keeps moving.

Allu wriggles free and stands up.
Johnson has his takedown stuffed

and Allu counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Johnson's guard now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Allu throwing strikes from guard but Johnson blocks nicely.
Allu throws a big right hand that misses.

Allu drops back, looking for a kneebar! Johnson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Johnson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Johnson!
Allu tries to escape but Johnson is in control.
Johnson moves into full mount!
Allu is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Allu is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Johnson has taken his back!
Johnson controls the position.
Allu looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Johnson controls the action.
Allu is trying to stand back up.
Allu is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Puukko Allu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Allu has his takedown stuffed

so Johnson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Allu wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Allu takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Allu keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.
Allu is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Johnson is controlling him.
Johnson showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Johnson won't allow Allu to get back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Johnson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Johnson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Allu is trying to stand.
Allu is not content to let Johnson control the position.
Allu is looking to escape.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Johnson stops Allu from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Allu circles away easily

and Allu counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Johnson's guard now.

Allu throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Johnson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Allu working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Johnson's head.
