The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tanner fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cuba sprawls well initially but Tanner persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tanner is keen to just control but Cuba is a slippery customer.

Cuba shoots and misses

and Tanner counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Tanner is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Cuba still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Cuba has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Cuba wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tanner, who protects the arm well.
Cuba throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Tanner is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cuba defends it well.

Cuba postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tanner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cuba, into his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Tanner stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Cuba throws up his legs and catches Tanner in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Tanner tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Cuba! That came out of nowhere!
