The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Damme wants to clinch up but pierre keeps it at a distance.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
pierre shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Van Damme's guard.
pierre stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van Damme swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

pierre is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Van Damme can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The referee warns Van Damme that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
pierre takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Despite being in the dominant position, manny pierre just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
pierre shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Van Damme manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
pierre is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jean Claude Van Damme has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
