Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kentaro Ohira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Irwin Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kentaro Ohira has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kentaro Ohira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Irwin Silva!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ohira displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva.
Silva fails with the takedown.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ohira sprawls well. Ohira wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.
Kentaro Ohira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Irwin Silva.

Ohira feints and as Silva raises his hands in defense, Ohira changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ohira has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ohira is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Ohira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ohira defends it easily.

Ohira is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ohira has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Ohira wanted to stand there but Silva had control of the position.
Ohira slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Silva utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Silva tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Kentaro Ohira just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Ohira has managed to clinch.
Silva tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ohira smiles and moves away.
Ohira is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Irwin Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ohira shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Ohira trying to work for an americana but Silva has managed to regain full guard.
Silva wants to sweep here but Ohira controlling him for the moment.
Ohira stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Silva gets caught flat footed, as Ohira shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Ohira drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Silva dives on top into guard.
Ohira pulls Silva in close to his closed guard and prevents Silva from doing any damage or advancing position.
Silva trying to control but Ohira is working from the bottom.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ohira holds on and takes a little breather.

Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ohira is adopting a defensive guard.

Ohira can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Ohira is defending against the submission attempts here by Silva.
Ohira wants to get back to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Silva is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Ohira is defending against the submission attempts here by Silva.
Ohira tries to kick Silva off but Silva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ohira trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ohira is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Silva's half guard.
Ohira wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
Ohira perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ohira missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Ohira tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Silva.

Ohira is thwarting Silva's attempts to control the position.
Ohira performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ohira seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Silva wants to improve his position but Ohira is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kentaro Ohira dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Ohira lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Ohira throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Ohira keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
Silva throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ohira manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Ohira jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Silva is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Silva and Ohira has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ohira throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Silva works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Ohira is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ohira is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Ohira performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Silva gets back to full guard.
Ohira sitting in guard here, content to control.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.
Ohira avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Silva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Silva drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Silva as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Ohira screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Silva! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Irwin Silva!
