Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jan Szczevnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikhail Burh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jan Szczevnikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mikhail Burh!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Dmitry Maklakov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burh misses with the combination.

Szczevnikov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Burh looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Szczevnikov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Szczevnikov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Burh is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Szczevnikov stands up.
Burh works over Szczevnikov's head and body with a nice combination.

Szczevnikov gets a takedown into half guard.
Burh wants to control but Szczevnikov is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Szczevnikov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Szczevnikov wants to free his trapped foot but Burh is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Szczevnikov is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Burh!
Szczevnikov wants to take Burh's back but he can't do it this time.

Szczevnikov stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Burh looks to throw the jab but Szczevnikov is out of range.

Szczevnikov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Burh circles away.
Burh has his takedown stuffed

and Szczevnikov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Szczevnikov.
Szczevnikov is breathing heavily.

Szczevnikov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Burh manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Szczevnikov has Burh in his guard.
Burh trying to control the position from guard on top but Szczevnikov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Szczevnikov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Burh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Szczevnikov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Burh's guard.
Burh working a defensive guard here.
Szczevnikov passes Burh's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Burh is looking to improve his position.

Szczevnikov seems to be working for a kimura but Burh defends the submission attempt.

Szczevnikov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Szczevnikov decides to stand up.

Szczevnikov slips a jab and a cross from Burh.
Burh misses with a few strikes there.

Szczevnikov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Szczevnikov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Szczevnikov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Burh wants to stand and escape but Szczevnikov is having none of it.

Szczevnikov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Burh is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Szczevnikov, into his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Burh drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burh jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Burh misses with a takedown attempt

and Szczevnikov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Burh is trying to keep Szczevnikov in close.

Szczevnikov drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Burh dives on top into guard.
Burh tries to free his leg and advance position but Szczevnikov is retaining full guard.

Szczevnikov working for a triangle but Burh defends it easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Burh trying to stand up but can't free himself from Szczevnikov's guard.

Szczevnikov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Burh can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Burh wanted to stand there but Szczevnikov had control of the position.

Szczevnikov is pushing down on Burh's leg trying to pass to half guard. Burh is fighting to maintain full guard but Szczevnikov has managed to sneak the leg through.
Szczevnikov moves into full mount! Burh won't be happy about that!

Szczevnikov is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Burh has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Burh!

Burh gets to his feet - Szczevnikov follows without any prompting.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burh is looking to control Szczevnikov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Burh avoid being mounted?

Burh is trying to maintain the position but Szczevnikov is very close to passing his half guard.
Szczevnikov prevents Burh from improving his position.
Burh is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Burh tries to roll over but Szczevnikov keeps him under control.

Burh with the active half guard here but Szczevnikov passes nicely into side control.

Szczevnikov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Szczevnikov has hold of Burh's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Burh seems comfortable defending it but Szczevnikov has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Burh is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Burh is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Szczevnikov couldn't care less - he's delighted!
