PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Seeland (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has chosen Never Can Say Goodbye as his entrance music. Jeremy Seeland has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Seeland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seeland looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nelson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Seeland.

Nelson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Seeland was covering up waiting for the punch and Nelson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Nelson stays in close to Seeland's body and controls the position.

Seeland working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nelson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nelson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Seeland is trying to control the position but Nelson postures up.
Nelson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Seeland seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nelson tries to stand but Seeland is controlling from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Roy Nelson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Seeland is desperately trying to improve his position but Nelson has a good base and remains in mount.

Seeland is trying to break free.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Nelson is hanging on to Seeland's back as he tries to escape.
Seeland trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Seeland is trying to break free.
Nelson controls the action.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Nelson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Seeland has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Seeland is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Seeland rolls, trying to escape but Nelson keeps control of the position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
I really don't envy Seeland right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roy Nelson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Seeland doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Nelson counters with a takedown into side control.
Seeland tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nelson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Nelson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Seeland's shoulder. That is not cool.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Seeland is looking for a sweep.
Seeland seems a little lost for a moment, as Nelson dominates the positioning.

Nelson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Seeland, who protects the arm well.
Nelson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
You can see the frustration on Seeland's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Seeland gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Seeland has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nelson is working away from the top position though.
Seeland is looking for a sweep. Nelson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Seeland is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nelson pulls his head out easily.
Seeland wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Seeland has his takedown stuffed

and Nelson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Seeland tries to roll over but Nelson keeps him under control.
Seeland is pressing down on Nelson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Nelson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Seeland looking for a sweep. Not yet Seeland, not yet.

Seeland is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Seeland looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nelson is one step ahead there.
Nelson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Nelson is posturing up here but Seeland has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Nelson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Nelson has to tap! Slick submission there by Seeland!
