Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Junior Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Vieira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gabriel Vieira told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vieira checks the leg kick nicely there.
Santos throws a head kick that misses.

and Vieira decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Santos's guard.
Vieira wants to stand and escape but instead Santos has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vieira is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Santos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Vieira throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Santos on the side of the head.
Santos shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice takedown defense from Vieira. No joy for Santos on that attempt.

Vieira lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Santos sprawling to the canvas. Vieira follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Santos hang on?

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Despite being in the dominant position, Gabriel Vieira just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Santos closes the distance but Vieira moves to the side
and Vieira counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
