PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diesel Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Power comes to the cage accompanied by Nas - Nas Is Like. Hammer has chosen Kanye West as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Power showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hammer.
Power ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hammer moves away.
Power drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hammer scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

It looks like Diesel Power has been cut.

Power shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Power was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Power stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Hammer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Power connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Power shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hammer tries to roll over but Power keeps him under control.
Hammer gets full guard.
Power tries to free his leg and advance position but Hammer is retaining full guard.

Hammer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Power postures up in Hammer's guard and throws a big left but Hammer blocks it.
Power is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Power is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hammer sees it coming and defends easily.

Power is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hammer trying to control but Power postures up.

Hammer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Power pulls his head out easily.
Power trying to control from half guard but Hammer is working away.
Power tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hammer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hammer throws a chopping leg kick but Power manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Power lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Power closes the distance and clinches up with Hammer, looking for a takedown. Power pushes Hammer against the cage but Hammer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Power dodges the punch combination from Hammer.
Hammer checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
A right-left combo lands from Hammer.
Hammer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Power moves in looking to clinch but Hammer pushes him off.
Hammer thows a left - swing and a miss!

Power drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hammer keeping moving, preventing Power from controlling successfully.
Power passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Hammer is not content to let Power control the position.

Power stands up and beckons Hammer to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Hammer as Power shoots in.
Hammer shoots and misses
enabling Power to counter with a crisp jab.
Diesel Power has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Hammer.
Hammer blocks a head kick by Power.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hammer throws a hook to the side of Power's head but Power sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Power connects with a single shot there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hammer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Power to the mat! Power manages to get full guard.
Hammer looks gassed!

Power looking for a guillotine here but Hammer defends easily.

Power has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hammer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close round but I would say that Diesel Power will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Diesel Power's cut.
That's time! Power's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A solid leg kick lands there for Hammer.
Power lands with a hook. Hammer tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Power lands with a nice body punch.
Power throws a push kick but Hammer slaps the foot to one side.
Power sizes up Hammer with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Power lands a nice shot that snaps Hammer's head back.
Hammer misses with a few strikes there.
Hammer misses with a low kick.
Hammer throws a series of punches but Power avoids them all with ease.

Power looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hammer!

Power jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hammer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hammer and Power has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Hammer is trying to control Power's posture but Power avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Power wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hammer, who protects the arm well.
Hammer stops Power from passing to mount.

Power works to advance to full mount. Hammer defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Power breaks from Hammer's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Hammer is bucking up trying to escape but Power cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Power get's back to his feet.
Hammer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hammer swats away the attempt to clinch by Power.
Hammer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hammer is breathing heavily.
Hammer looks to land a combination but Power avoids it well.

Power changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hammer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Diesel Power overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Power lands a decent elbow from side control.

Power wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hammer, who protects the arm well.
Power working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Power has knee on belly momentarily but Hammer bucks him off and regains half guard.
Hammer is looking for a sweep. Power is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hammer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Power's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Power's back!

Power is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Hammer dives in and grabs Power's left leg, looking for a takedown. Power pushes down on Hammer's head and hops out.
Power tries to clinch but Hammer is having none of it.
Hammer misses with a head kick.
Hammer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Power tries to clinch there but Hammer circles away.
Power lands with a good body shot.
Diesel Power seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hammer looks to land a combination but Power avoids it well.
Power lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Frank Hammer seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Power!

Power shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Power's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Power is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Power decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hammer, up you get!

Power feints and as Hammer raises his hands in defense, Power changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hammer tries to roll over but Power keeps him under control.
Power is keen to just control but Hammer is a slippery customer.
Power winds up and cracks Hammer with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Power looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Power tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Power has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Power throws an elbow but Hammer slips to the side and avoids it well.

Power is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hammer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Power goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hammer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Power's guard! Nice work there by Hammer!
Diesel Power is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hammer stands up and waves to Power to follow him.

Power closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Power lands in his opponent's guard.

Well Power has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
