PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shinji Nishimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cedric Seed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seed has chosen Enter the dragon as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Shinji Nishimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Cedric Seed!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seed throws a head kick that misses.
Nishimura misses with an uppercut. Seed saw that one coming.
Nishimura tries to score a power double leg takedown but Seed sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nishimura somewhat.

Nishimura closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nishimura lands in his opponent's guard.
Seed controlling the position.

Nishimura has gone for a leg lock! Seed slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nishimura's guard.
Seed trying to control the position from guard on top but Nishimura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Seed preventing the sweep.
Nishimura pulls Seed in close to prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Seed trying to control the position from guard on top but Nishimura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Seed really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nishimura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Seed wants to stand and escape but instead Nishimura has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Nishimura stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Nishimura avoids a punch combination nicely.

Nishimura closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Seed is trying to maintain the position but Nishimura is very close to passing his half guard.

Nishimura is looking for a kimura here.
Seed is trying to stand.

Nishimura is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Seed defends it well.
Nishimura stops Seed from getting back to his feet.
Seed is refusing to be controlled, as Nishimura sits in half guard.
Seed is in trouble now - Nishimura has advanced to mount!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nishimura is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Nishimura tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Seed swivels and escapes.
Seed misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Nishimura has closed the distance and engaged Seed in a clinch.
Nishimura is stalling here.
Nishimura has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Seed is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nishimura's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Nishimura changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Seed fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Seed counters with a thumping low kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nishimura leaves Seed with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nishimura is looking to clinch but Seed is avoiding it.
Nishimura throws a right and a left that Seed avoids nicely.
Nishimura tries for a takedown but Seed circles away easily

and Seed counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Seed.

Seed trying to control but Nishimura is working from the bottom.
Nishimura trying to keep a closed guard but Seed is proving a slippery customer.
Seed wanted to stand there but Nishimura had control of the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nishimura wants to get back to his feet but Seed is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cedric Seed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Nishimura shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Seed sprawls well. Seed wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nishimura gets slowly back to his feet.
Seed is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nishimura avoids the head kick by Seed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nishimura shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Seed's guard.
Nishimura advances to half guard.

Nishimura is looking for a kimura but Seed is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nishimura to get the leverage.

Nishimura seems to be working for a kimura but Seed defends the submission attempt.

Seed is defending against the submission attempts here by Nishimura.
Nishimura stops Seed from getting back to his feet.

Nishimura is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Seed tries to kick Nishimura off but Nishimura keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Nishimura is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nishimura prevents Seed from standing back up.
Nishimura is trying to control. Seed wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Seed tries to kick Nishimura off but Nishimura keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Seed is looking to control Nishimura's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Seed avoid being mounted?

Nishimura wants to pass to mount but Seed is defending the position.

Nishimura is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Seed is trying to stand up here but Nishimura is controlling him well.
