Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ray Den!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Den circles away.
Den throws a sloppy head kick and Diaz moves out of range easily.
Den swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Den shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Diaz is trying to defend but Den finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Diaz wants to get back to full guard.
Den controlling the pace.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Den has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Den trying to control the pace.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Den stops Diaz from getting back to his feet.

Den is controlling the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ray Den just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Den counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Den has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Den slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Den dominated that round.

Den looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Diaz!
Den controlling from the full mount.
Diaz is desperately trying to improve his position but Den has a good base and remains in mount.
Den content just to control the position here.

Diaz wants to hold on but Den pushes him away.
Den controlling his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Diaz tries to lock up and control but Den gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Diaz tries to reverse the position but Den maintains control.
Den controlling the pace for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Diaz can't escape the position.
Den content just to control the position here.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ray Den just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Den closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diaz did well to prevent Den getting side control.
Den knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Den trying to control the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Den dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Den shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Diaz wants to improve his position but instead Den has moved into half guard.
Diaz regains full guard. Nicely done.
Den controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Den pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now.
Diaz being controlled here, momentarily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Diaz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Diaz controls Den momentarily but Den frees himself.
Den stops Diaz from standing up.
Den might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Den controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ray Den is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Diaz is looking for a triangle here but Den uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Diaz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Diaz regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Den is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ray Den showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Den has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
