PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Nabeatu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nabeatu comes into the arena with Era - Enae Volare Mezzo blaring out of the sound system. Big D is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Igor Nabeatu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Big D!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Nabeatu misses.
No luck for D with that takedown attempt.
Nabeatu with a jab.
Nabeatu lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
D changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nabeatu tries to avoid it but D manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nabeatu to the ground. Nabeatu escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A combination from Nabeatu does no damage.
Nabeatu throws a combination but it was largely blocked by D.
Nabeatu throws a series of punches but D moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from D.
Igor Nabeatu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big D.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nabeatu throws a series of punches but D avoids them all with ease.
Nabeatu slaps away a takedown attempt from D, before circling back to the center of the mat.
D avoids the head kick by Nabeatu.
D has a takedown stuffed.
D uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nabeatu.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nabeatu throws a head kick but D moves out of range.
D shoots in for a double leg but Nabeatu sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Igor Nabeatu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
D shoots for a double leg takedown but Nabeatu sprawls well. He's pushed D's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

D feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nabeatu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. D is aware though and is defending well.
D trying to control the position from guard on top but Nabeatu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Nabeatu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nabeatu can't keep his opponent in guard - D advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Nabeatu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for D on the ground.
D passes to full mount!

D looking to secure an arm triangle but Nabeatu defends it well.
D looking to finish with strikes here!
Nabeatu bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

D has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nabeatu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
D looks gassed!
D is trying to control the position but Nabeatu postures up.

Nabeatu stands up and waves to D to follow him.
Nabeatu tries a head kick but it misses.
Nabeatu throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Igor Nabeatu dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


D moves out of range of the body kick.
Nabeatu lands a head kick. D smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
D avoids a kick to the body.
Nabeatu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nabeatu misses with a wild combination.
Nabeatu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
D will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's one minute gone in the round.

D shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nabeatu napping and manages to drive through into side control!

D working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Nabeatu is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

D is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Nabeatu looks calm but he's in trouble here. D gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Nabeatu is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! D lets go of the hold and Nabeatu can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Big D!
