PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Morris Minor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Strey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that AJ Strey was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strey connects with a solid leg kick.
Minor checks a low kick from Strey.
Minor takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Strey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Minor, pushing him back against the cage.

Minor decides to pull guard.
Minor has a closed guard, preventing Strey from standing up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Minor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Minor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Strey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Strey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Minor cracks Strey with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Minor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Minor has control of Strey's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Strey regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Strey is desperately trying to improve his position but Minor has a good base and remains in mount.

Minor is landing with some decent strikes but Strey is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Minor is working for a guillotine from mount but Strey frees his head quite easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Minor get's back to his feet.
Minor tries to clinch up but Strey circles away and keeps his distance.

Minor has Strey pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Minor pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Strey tumbling to the mat - Minor dives into Strey's guard.
Strey can't keep his opponent in guard - Minor advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Strey is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Minor scores with a couple of nice shots.
Minor slows the pace down in half guard.
Strey looks like he's trying to stand up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Strey is staying active underneath Minor, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Minor gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Minor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Strey's guard.

Strey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Minor defends well.

Strey wants to stand and escape but Minor is having none of it.

Minor is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Strey is surviving well by controlling Minor's body position as best he can.

Minor jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Strey is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Strey and Minor has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Minor swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
