Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Marshall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Quintero!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quintero cracks Marshall with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Marshall looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Quintero finish him?
Marshall is rocked!
It looks like John Marshall has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Marshall shoots in and drives through. Quintero sprawls well.
Oh Marshall is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Quintero throws a jab when Marshall was well out of range.
Marshall seems to have got his legs back now.
Marshall shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Marshall throwing strikes but missing.
Quintero throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Marshall loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Marshall looking to sit in guard and control but Quintero gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Quintero drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Quintero jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Marshall wants to stand but Quintero is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Quintero throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marshall is looking to stand up but Quintero isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quintero is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Marshall misses with a takedown attempt - Quintero sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Marshall uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Quintero.
Quintero swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Marshall shoots in for a takedown but Quintero shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Marshall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Quintero throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Marshall feints and as Quintero raises his hands in defense, Marshall changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Marshall is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quintero is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Marshall has his hands clasped together but Quintero extends an breaks Marshall's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Quintero.
