PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Al Wuzz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wuzz comes to the cage accompanied by Lützenkirchen - Cairo on Acid. Randy Savage will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Savage closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wuzz did well to prevent Savage getting side control.

Wuzz looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Savage is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Savage lands with a punch from half guard.
Wuzz regains full guard. Nicely done.

Wuzz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Savage is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Savage with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Wuzz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Savage is aware though and is defending well.
Savage wants to control from the top but Wuzz keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wuzz has momentary wrist control but Savage slips an elbow through the middle.
Wuzz keeping moving, preventing Savage from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Savage in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Savage trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Wuzz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Savage gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Savage thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Savage pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wuzz is keeping the position for now.

Wuzz working for a triangle but Savage defends it easily.
Savage wants to control from the top but Wuzz keeps moving.
Wuzz looking for a sweep. Not yet Wuzz, not yet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Savage postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Savage decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Savage closes the distance and clinches.
Savage fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Wuzz has picked Savage up - he's going for a ride! Wuzz dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Wuzz wants to work for an arm triangle but Savage is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Savage is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Wuzz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Savage wants to control but Wuzz is keeping busy.

Savage misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Savage wants to get back to full guard.
Wuzz thows a huge punch but Savage dodges it nicely.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Wuzz wants to pass to mount but Savage is defending the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Savage tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wuzz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Savage somewhat.
Wuzz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Savage counters with a shoot takedown. Wuzz fights it but they end up in guard.
Savage in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Savage is looking to work some ground and pound but Wuzz has wrist control.

Wuzz has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Savage doesn't defend quickly enough and Wuzz has managed to lock this one up! Can Savage escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Wuzz on a fantastic submission victory.
