Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demian Weed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Tavaras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weed closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Weed staying calm.
Weed looking to control but instead Tavaras has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Tavaras won't allow Weed to pass to mount.
Weed trying to control the action but Tavaras is working from the bottom.
Weed tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tavaras knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Weed is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Weed moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Tavaras has worked his arm free - good work by Tavaras!
Weed tries to move into full mount but can't pass Tavaras's legs.

Weed has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Tavaras!
Weed goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Tavaras is on top in guard.
Tavaras drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tavaras jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Weed looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tavaras is one step ahead there.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tavaras tries for a takedown but Weed circles away easily
and Weed counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Tavaras!
Tavaras is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Weed has taken his back.

Tavaras prevents Weed from getting a body triangle.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Tavaras feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Weed wants to control the pace but Tavaras is squirming around nicely.
Weed jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Tavaras is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Tavaras and Weed has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Weed is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Weed has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Demian Weed just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Weed trying to mount his opponent but Tavaras defends it.

Weed wants to pass the guard but Tavaras is defending well.

Weed seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Weed wants to take a breather but Tavaras is having none of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Tavaras takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Tavaras is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Weed is pressing down on Tavaras's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Weed is on top in guard.
Weed has gone for a leg lock! Tavaras slips out almost immediately though and dives into Weed's guard.
Weed manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Tavaras manages to get himself to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Demian Weed overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
