Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malla tries for a takedown but Berejemas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Berejemas tries a head kick but it misses.
Malla is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Malla counters with a shoot takedown. Berejemas fights it but they end up in guard.
Malla wants to pass the guard but Berejemas is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Malla accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Berejemas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Berejemas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Malla on the ground.
Malla trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Malla postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Berejemas is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Malla, into his guard.

Malla is pulling down on Berejemas's head. It's preventing any offense from Berejemas, at least for the moment.
Berejemas looking to sit in guard and control but Malla gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Malla is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Berejemas looking for subs off his back but Malla has passed one foot through into half guard.
Berejemas is defending against the submission attempts here by Malla.
Berejemas manages to get to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Berejemas wants to sweep here but Malla controlling him for the moment.
Malla wants to control from the top but Berejemas keeps moving.
Malla controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Berejemas working a defensive guard but Malla manages to pass into side control anyway.
Malla has hold of Berejemas's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Berejemas tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Malla cranks the arm and Berejemas screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Berejemas, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Khalil Malla!
