A fine choice. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Byrne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richard Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrne listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Richard Ramirez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Byrne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ramirez manages to avoid it.
Ramirez throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Jacob Byrne has been cut.
Byrne throws a hook to the side of Ramirez's head but Ramirez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Byrne will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Byrne stuffs the takedown attempt from Ramirez. Ramirez gets slowly back to his feet.
Ramirez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Byrne sprawls well. Byrne wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ramirez gets slowly back to his feet.
Byrne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ramirez manages to avoid it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ramirez is defended easily by Byrne.
Jacob Byrne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard Ramirez.
Ramirez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
No joy there for Byrne, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ramirez gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Byrne breaks from the clinch.
Some wild striking there from Byrne.
Good standup being displayed there by Byrne as he connects with a hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Byrne fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Byrne works Ramirez's body with a nice hook.
Ramirez looks gassed!
Ramirez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Byrne tries to bum rush Ramirez with a series of wild strikes but Ramirez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Byrne lands a nice hook to Ramirez's body. Ramirez takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Byrne scores with a nice head shot.


Ramirez is rocked!
Byrne drops Ramirez with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Ramirez! Byrne dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jacob Byrne!
