PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Razor Face (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Face comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome to the TerrorDome. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Razor Face!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Face throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Taylor decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Face has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Taylor is working away from the top position though.
Face avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Taylor.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Face keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Face on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Face tries to get out of the position.
Taylor not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Taylor missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Taylor misses with a head shot. Face uses the momentum to regain guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Taylor throws out a loose jab but Face uses good head movement to avoid it.
Face fails to land with a series of punches.
Nice defenses there by Taylor.

Face parries the strikes from Taylor easily there. Taylor is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Face to escape.

Face takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Face regains half guard, as Taylor was trying to land strikes.

Taylor looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Face with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Taylor thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Face's head.
Taylor working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Taylor drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travis Taylor dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Taylor ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Face throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Face scores with a nice strike.

Face rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Taylor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Face fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Face moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Face tests Taylor's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Face throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Taylor.
Taylor misses with a double jab.
Face misses with a body shot.
Taylor ducks under a wild hook from Face.
Face misses with a looping left.
Face stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Face wants it to stay on the feet.
Taylor dodges the punch combination from Face.
Face scores with a one two! Taylor had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Face's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Face duly obliges.
Razor Face is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Taylor moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Taylor shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Face defends it nicely.
Taylor slips a straight right by Face.
Face throws an overhand right that lands on Taylor's shoulder, as Taylor tries to avoid the shot.
Taylor shoots for a takedown but Face saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Razor Face has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Travis Taylor.

Face keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Taylor moves out of range as Face strikes.

Taylor darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Face makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Face.
Face utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Taylor thows a big elbow that misses.

Face not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Face wants to sweep here but Taylor controlling him for the moment.

Taylor is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Razor Face dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Face swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Taylor is trying hard to land a takedown here. Face sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Taylor throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Taylor has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Taylor avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Face lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Taylor circles away quickly and effectively.
Face swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Razor Face seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Face swings for the body but Taylor moves out of range.

Taylor changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Face looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Face on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Face is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Taylor tries to advance to mount but can't.
Taylor throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Face struggling a bit here.
Travis Taylor has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taylor creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Face sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Face is trying to get back to half guard.
Taylor throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Taylor working the strikes but Face uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Taylor passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Face!
Face is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Taylor has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Face's face.
Face holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Taylor tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Taylor misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Face tries to lock up and control but Taylor gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Taylor misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Face is trying desperately to improve position.
Taylor punching from mount but Face doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Taylor throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Taylor breaks from Face's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Taylor throws a wild left hand from mount and Face manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Face has hold of Taylor's hands but Taylor slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Face wants to control but Taylor is keeping busy and won't allow it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Travis Taylor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Taylor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
