These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Powers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nogueira's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nogueira is working an open guard so Powers takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Nogueira closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Powers to the mat! Powers manages to get full guard.

Powers throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Powers fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Powers unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Nogueira wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Powers celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
