PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mate Buzy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Murico Royce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buzy comes to the cage accompanied by Najaca. Royce comes into a darkened arena with his song building. eye of the tiger kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Buzy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Royce has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Buzy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Royce tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Royce prevents Buzy from breaking the clinch.
Royce tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Buzy smiles and moves away.
Mate Buzy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Murico Royce.

Royce takes the fight into the clinch.
Buzy lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Royce backwards.
Buzy tries to break free but Royce pushes him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Buzy's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Royce breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A right-left combo lands from Buzy.
Buzy tried to score with a low kick but Royce checks it.

Buzy gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Royce to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Buzy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Buzy is wriggling around but Royce manages to pass to half guard.
Buzy tries to get to full guard but Royce has control of the leg.

Royce decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

and Royce counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Royce passes Buzy's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Buzy has one foot on Royce's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Buzy fails with the takedown

and Royce decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Buzy's guard.
Buzy is breathing heavily.

Royce gets to his feet - Buzy follows without any prompting.
Royce shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Buzy but Buzy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Royce throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Buzy's waist but Buzy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Royce off to one side.

Buzy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Royce swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Royce holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Royce breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Royce drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Buzy is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Royce dives into side control.

Royce decides to stand up, so the ref orders Buzy to his feet.
Mate Buzy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Royce closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Royce is defended easily by Buzy.

Buzy forces Royce back against the cage and clinches.
Buzy is looking to break free of the clinch but Royce has double underhooks.
Royce blocks an elbow strike from Buzy.

Royce escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice takedown defense from Buzy. No joy for Royce on that attempt.

Buzy tries for a takedown but Royce sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Buzy moves into range and clinches up with Royce.
Royce has Buzy pressed against the cage, preventing Buzy from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Buzy tries to pull guard but Royce won't allow it.

Royce is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Buzy pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Royce is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Royce makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Royce.
Royce manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Buzy manages to get himself to full guard.
Buzy wants to stand but Royce is controlling the position.

Royce wants to control from the top but Buzy keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Royce decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Buzy makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

so Royce counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Royce stands up and waves to Buzy to follow him.
Mate Buzy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Royce fails in his attempt to clinch.
Buzy misses with a series of wild punches.
Buzy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Royce closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Buzy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricardo Murico Royce showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Buzy tries to clinch up

Royce looking to sit in guard and control but Buzy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Royce wants to sweep here but Buzy controlling him for the moment.
Royce manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Royce stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Buzy takes the fight into the clinch.
Royce slowing the pace effectively.
Buzy is trying to force a seperation but Royce has the dominant position.

Royce gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Royce stands up from half guard.
Buzy stuffs the takedown attempt from Royce. Royce gets slowly back to his feet.

Royce with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Buzy to score with a decent uppercut.
A right-left combo lands from Buzy.
Buzy will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Royce rushes Buzy and presses him up against the cage.

Buzy wants to clinch but Royce slips to the side

and Royce counters with a single leg into guard. Buzy didn't expect that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Buzy wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Royce manages to pass to side control.
