The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Soomers.
Soomers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Putin but Putin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Soomers shoots in for a double leg but Putin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Soomers looks to land a combination. Putin sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Putin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Soomers to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Putin wants to get back to full guard but Soomers has passed into side control.
Putin tries to reverse the position but Soomers maintains control.

Soomers is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Putin has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Putin!

Soomers is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Putin is trying to force a seperation but Soomers has the dominant position.

Putin lands with a left to the head.
Soomers tries for a takedown but Putin manages to get underhooks.
Ras Putin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kris Soomers.
Soomers has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Putin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Putin wants to break free but Soomers has control.

Putin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Soomers was well out of range. Poor timing from Putin.

Soomers looks to throw the jab but Putin is out of range.
Putin lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Soomers can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Putin and Soomers drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Putin.
