PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timothy Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Irv Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgee comes to the cage accompanied by McGee. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Timothy Mcgee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Irv Goldman!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goldman shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Goldman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcgee keeps working.

Mcgee kicks off Goldman and gets to his feet.
Mcgee misses with a takedown attempt

and Goldman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Goldman.
Mcgee can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Goldman controls the pace.

Goldman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mcgee is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mcgee has escaped and now he's on top!

Mcgee trying to stand up but can't free himself from Goldman's guard.

Goldman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mcgee thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mcgee wants to control from the top but Goldman keeps moving.
Goldman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Goldman keeping moving, preventing Mcgee from controlling successfully.
Mcgee is really struggling to control Goldman but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Goldman shoots in and drives through. Mcgee sprawls well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mcgee shoots and misses

and Goldman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mcgee looking to control.

Goldman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Goldman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Goldman is stalling in the full guard.
Let's hope that Goldman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Goldman advances position into side control!

Mcgee throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Goldman shoots in and drives through. Mcgee sprawls well.
Mcgee misses with a takedown attempt

and Goldman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mcgee's guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Timothy Mcgee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Goldman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Mcgee trying to keep a closed guard but Goldman is proving a slippery customer.
Goldman throws a big right hand that misses.

Mcgee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Goldman defends it easily.
Goldman wants to control from the top but Mcgee keeps moving.
Goldman throws and elbow that misses. Mcgee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Goldman's guard. Nice move by Mcgee!

Mcgee drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Goldman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mcgee has Goldman in his guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Irv Goldman dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mcgee tries for a takedown but Goldman circles away easily

and Goldman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mcgee is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Goldman tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcgee is retaining full guard.
Goldman looking to sit in guard and control but Mcgee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mcgee trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcgee is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Goldman is controlling him.
Goldman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Goldman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mcgee wants to control but Goldman postures up.
Irv Goldman has got the better of the ground game so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Goldman prevents Mcgee from escaping the position.

Goldman tries for a kimura but Mcgee is defending well.

Goldman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mcgee is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Goldman is breathing heavily.
Goldman is chipping away with strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mcgee is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Mcgee takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Goldman postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mcgee tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Mcgee sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Goldman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mcgee with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Goldman wants to control but Mcgee is keeping him busy.
Goldman missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mcgee is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goldman moves into full mount! Mcgee won't be happy about that!

Goldman swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mcgee is now in Goldman's guard. A big mistake from Goldman there, giving up the dominant position!

Goldman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Mcgee drops back looking for a leg! Goldman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Goldman manages to kick Mcgee off! Mcgee jumps back into Goldman's guard.
Goldman wants to sweep here but Mcgee controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Irv Goldman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Mcgee wants to stand up but Goldman is controlling him.
Mcgee can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Goldman controls the pace.

Mcgee wants to get back to his feet but Goldman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Goldman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Goldman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Goldman counters with a shoot takedown. Mcgee fights it but they end up in guard.
Goldman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mcgee wants to control but Goldman passes easily into half guard.

Mcgee tries to get to full guard but Goldman has control of the leg.

Mcgee looking for a kimura from the bottom but Goldman passes into side control!
Goldman is staying tight to Mcgee's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Mcgee is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Goldman asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Goldman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

You can see the frustration on Mcgee's face as Goldman controls the position.

Goldman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Goldman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
