Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between nick patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Shellard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). nick patterson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
patterson misses with a head kick.
Shellard takes a kick to the side of the head.
patterson lands with a slapping head kick.
A nice combination there by patterson.
Shellard misses with a two punch combination.
Shellard tries to close the distance and clinch up but patterson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
patterson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Shellard.
patterson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shellard as he jumps to the side.
Shellard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Shellard thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed patterson's head.

Shellard moves in looking to clinch but patterson pushes him off.
patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shellard swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A slapping leg kick lands for patterson.

Shellard is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Shellard counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for patterson!

patterson is looking to improve his position but Shellard isn't that keen on the idea.
Shellard goes for an armbar but he's not got it… patterson turns into him and now he's in Shellard's guard.

patterson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shellard is proving hard to escape from.
Shellard has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
patterson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shellard is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of patterson, into his guard.
Shellard chips away with some ground and pound.
Shellard is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! patterson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! patterson has escaped and now he's on top!
patterson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

That was a close round but I would say that nick patterson will probably get the nod.

Shellard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but patterson avoids it really well and circles away.

patterson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shellard looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shellard looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shellard!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Shellard takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
patterson is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Shellard throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and patterson counters with a good low kick that Shellard was not able to check.
patterson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Shellard sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

patterson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

and Shellard counters with a nice double leg into side control. patterson won't be happy with that.
This has been an exciting period of action!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
patterson throws a head kick that Shellard semi-blocks.
patterson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Shellard counters with a shoot takedown. patterson fights it but they end up in guard.

John Shellard has got the better of the ground game so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to John Shellard.
