The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Pain shows good takedown defense.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnson.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pain sprawls well. Pain wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Tix Pain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Johnson.
Johnson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pain avoids it really well and circles away.
Johnson is looking to clinch but Pain is avoiding it.
Johnson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pain closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnson did well to prevent Pain getting side control.
Johnson is staying active underneath Pain, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Johnson defend it? Pain steps over the head and cranks it - Johnson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Pain!
