Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Panameno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hannibal Lector (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lector doesn't manage to clinch there - Panameno circles away.
Lector tries to clinch but Panameno moves out of range.
Panameno throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Panameno clinches with his opponent.
Panameno wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Panameno tries to break the clinch but Lector is controlling the position.
Lector wants a takedown.

Lector jumps guard and drags Panameno to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lector pushes Panameno off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Panameno misses with a looping right.
Lector's corner calls for a 1-2. Lector obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Lector fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Panameno keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Lector misses with a body kick.
Panameno circles away from the clinch attempt
and Panameno counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Panameno tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Panameno is working hard here to advance position.
Panameno tries to lock up and control but Lector gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Panameno is trying to escape the mount.

Lector avoids the attempt from Panameno to control.

Panameno tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Panameno is breathing heavily.
Panameno wants to control but Lector is having none of it.

Lector gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

and Panameno cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Panameno throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Panameno counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lector!
Lector is wriggling around trying to escape.

Panameno won't let Lector get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Lector regains half guard.
Lector gets back to full guard.
Lector controls Panameno momentarily but Panameno frees himself.
Lector bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Panameno's guard.
Panameno has momentary wrist control but Lector slips an elbow through the middle.

Lector slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Panameno takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee asks Lector politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lector prefers to stall for the moment though.
Panameno tries to improve position but can't.

Lector decides to stand back up.
Lector tries for a takedown but Panameno circles away easily
and Panameno connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Panameno misses with a body kick.
Panameno tests Lector's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Hannibal Lector has been cut.
Lector tries to clinch but Panameno is having none of it.
Panameno swings and misses with a hook to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lector slips under a jab from Panameno.
Lector uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Panameno.
Panameno connects with a solid leg kick.
Lector displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Panameno throws out the jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lector pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Panameno as Lector shoots in.
Lector tries to clinch up but Panameno circles away and keeps his distance.

Panameno bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lector on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Lector tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Panameno throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Lector!

Lector is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Panameno scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Lector is still in real trouble! Can Panameno finish him?

Hannibal Lector's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hannibal Lector's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
