PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Big Brain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willie Bumm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brain might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to In The Morning. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Big Brain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Willie Bumm!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bumm has Brain up against the cage in a clinch.
Brain tries to pull guard but Bumm holds him up against the cage and eventually Brain drops back down to his feet.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Bumm tightens his grip and picks Brain up, before dumping him to the ground. Brain manages to land in guard.
Brain has a closed guard, preventing Bumm from standing up.
Bumm wants to control from the top but Brain keeps moving.

Brain looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bumm must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Brain working for a triangle but Bumm defends it easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bumm wants to control from the top but Brain keeps moving.

Brain looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Brain controls Bumm momentarily but Bumm frees himself.

Bumm drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bumm jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Brain has his foot on Bumm's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bumm works his way back into a safe position though.
Brain is breathing heavily.

Bumm gets to his feet - Brain follows without any prompting.

Bumm drives through and clinches with Brain against the cage.

Bumm turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bumm manages to end up in side control.
Bumm trying to control the action but Brain is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brain throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Brain is trying to control Bumm's posture but Bumm avoids it.
Brain tries to bench press Bumm off him but Bumm keeps the position.
Brain trying to control but Bumm flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Bumm scores with punches and elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
I really don't envy Brain right now.
Bumm should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Brain is working hard here to advance position.
Brain manages to reverse the position and now he's in Bumm's guard. Nice work there by Brain.

Brain drops back looking for a leg! Bumm is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bumm manages to kick Brain off! Brain jumps back into Bumm's guard.

Brain thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Brain tries to free his leg and advance position but Bumm is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bumm darts in and clinches Brain up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brain tries for a takedown but Bumm manages to get underhooks.

Bumm breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Bumm instigates a clinch.

Bumm ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Bumm no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Brain chips away with some ground and pound.
Brain postures up.
Bumm really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brain thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Brain has gone for a leg lock! Bumm slips out almost immediately though and dives into Brain's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Brain keeping moving, preventing Bumm from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Big Brain will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Brain shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Brain thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Bumm wants to hold on but Brain pushes him away.

Brain wants to finish this one by submission but Bumm is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Brain.
Bumm is working to get back to half guard.
Brain wants to control the pace but Bumm is squirming around nicely.

Brain goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bumm is on top in guard.
Brain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brain throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Bumm looking to pass the guard.

Bumm avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Brain is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bumm postures up in Brain's guard and throws a big left but Brain blocks it.

Brain looking to control.
Brain keeping moving, preventing Bumm from controlling successfully.
Bumm is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Brain is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bumm wants to pass the guard but Brain is keeping the position.
Bumm wants to get up but he can't break Brain's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Big Brain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brain looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Bumm is defending well. Brain quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Bumm has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Brain celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Big Brain!
