Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Goku san (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Kernes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kernes has chosen Reign Supreme - Persevere And Overcome as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
san fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
san closes the distance and clinches up with Kernes, looking for a takedown. san pushes Kernes against the cage but Kernes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kernes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
san fails to land the takedown.

Kernes takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Kernes tries to clinch but san is having none of it.

san shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. san showed some decent athleticism there.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kernes is trying to stand up here but san is controlling him well.

san throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kernes's waist but Kernes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing san off to one side.
Kernes lands a head kick. san smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kernes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kernes leaves san with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
san throws a jab when Kernes was well out of range.

No joy there for Kernes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kernes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst san is controlling him.

Jay Kernes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

san sizes up Kernes with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kernes is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kernes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

san looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

san looking to ground and pound but Kernes is blocking nicely.

san is working for a guillotine from mount but Kernes frees his head quite easily.

san has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

san has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kernes's face.
