Mitchell's entrance music is Hail Mary Tupac Shakur. A fine choice. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie has closed the distance and engaged Mitchell in a clinch.
Gracie throws a head punch that misses.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Mitchell is trying to break the clinch but Gracie has him pressed against the ropes.
Gracie content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Mitchell pulls Gracie into guard.

Mitchell had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gracie is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mitchell Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gracie's back instead.
Gracie is in bad spot here.
Gracie tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Mitchell prevents Gracie from getting the reversal.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Gracie tries to improve his position but instead Mitchell has taken his back!
Mitchell is hanging on to Gracie's back as he tries to escape.
Mitchell doesn't have the hooks in and Gracie manages to turn into his guard.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mitchell looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mitchell looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mitchell!
Gracie looks gassed!

Mitchell thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Mitchell is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Mitchell slips a nice elbow through Gracie's hands, connecting with Gracie's forehead.
Gracie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mitchell's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mitchell's back!
Mitchell is trying to get back to his feet but Gracie has full control of the position and if anything, Mitchell has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Mitchell turns into Gracie and is now in his guard.
