PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Valtteri Tammi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spike Saunders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Valtteri Tammi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saunders drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tammi pulls Saunders in to control the position.
Saunders is in close to Tammi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tammi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Saunders really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tammi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tammi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Tammi has momentary wrist control but Saunders slips an elbow through the middle.
Saunders content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tammi is on top in guard.
Saunders is looking to sweep but instead, Tammi has passed into half guard.
Saunders is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tammi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Saunders with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Saunders is controlling Tammi's trapped leg to prevent Tammi from advancing to side control.
Tammi wants to pass the guard but Saunders is defending well.

Saunders lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Tammi!
Saunders lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Tammi hang on?
Tammi is trying desperately to improve position.
The referee warns Tammi that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Saunders cracks Tammi with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
