Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Murata Shougo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carl Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murata Shougo has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shougo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Shougo is in close to Carlson's body, working some short punches and elbows.

It looks like Carl Carlson has been cut.
Shougo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Shougo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carlson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Shougo lands a nice short elbow.
Shougo is taking a breather. Carlson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Carlson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Shougo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carlson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Carlson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shougo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That has opened up Carl Carlson's cut even more.
Carlson tries to bench press Shougo off him but Shougo keeps the position.

Shougo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carlson keeps working.
Shougo lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Carlson down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shougo in particular looking to stall.
Shougo is keen to just control but Carlson is a slippery customer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
