The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sharp tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and McGee is able to avoid easily.
McGee shoots in but Sharp avoids the takedown attempt easily.

McGee shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sharp is trying to defend but McGee finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

McGee seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sharp for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McGee fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sharp.
Sharp throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
McGee shoots in for a takedown but Sharp shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

McGee shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sharp sprawls well. Sharp wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McGee gets slowly back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McGee is looking to control Sharp's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can McGee avoid being mounted?

McGee uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sharp.

McGee shoots in and bounces Sharp off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Curtis Sharp dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

McGee tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sharp swats him away and circles back towards the center.

McGee has Sharp up against the cage in a clinch.
McGee has Sharp pressed against the cage, preventing Sharp from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

McGee pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
McGee looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sharp throws a sloppy head kick and McGee moves out of range easily.
A solid leg kick lands there for Sharp.
Sharp cracks McGee with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Curtis Sharp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

McGee pushes Sharp away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sharp gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

McGee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sharp is working away from the top position though.

The fight stays on the outside here - McGee looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
