The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brooks sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jonson somewhat.

Brooks throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Jonson escapes and throws Brooks's legs to the side, diving into side control!

I looks like Jonson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Despite being in the dominant position, Pit Jonson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pit Jonson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
