The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Young throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Young fails to land the takedown.
Young fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Welch is out of range.
Welch scores with a head kick.
Jab by Welch.
Welch ducks under a wild hook from Young.
Young takes a kick to the side of the head.
Young shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Welch as he avoids it easily.
Jeremy Welch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Young.
Young takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Welch's corner calls for a 1-2. Welch obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Jeremy Welch has been cut.
Young shoots in but Welch avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Young misses with a double jab
and Welch counters with a series of strikes. Young will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Welch counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Welch lands a head kick!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Welch takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Frank Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Welch lands with an uppercut that bounces Young off the ropes and back into rage.

Welch lands a left and a right that send Young crashing to the mat, dazed. Welch thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Welch drops Young with a beautiful combination! Young stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Welch is looking for the KO!

and Welch makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A right-left combo lands from Welch.
Young takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Welch lands a big head kick that sends Young to the canvas! Welch follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
