PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hans Jorgensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazuya Shikotan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shikotan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Japan Synphony. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hans Jorgensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kazuya Shikotan!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jorgensen throws a right and a left that both miss.
Shikotan fails with a takedown attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jorgensen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shikotan.

Shikotan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here.
Jorgensen is not content to let Shikotan control the position.

Shikotan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jorgensen to see if he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jorgensen pushes Shikotan away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Shikotan gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Kazuya Shikotan just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Shikotan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jorgensen sprawls well. Jorgensen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shikotan gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Shikotan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jorgensen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Jorgensen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jorgensen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shikotan paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Shikotan jumps guard and drags Jorgensen to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Jorgensen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Jorgensen has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Shikotan works to full guard.

Jorgensen wants to get up but he can't break Shikotan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Jorgensen tries to free his leg and advance position but Shikotan is retaining full guard.

Jorgensen gets to his feet - Shikotan follows without any prompting.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Jorgensen is staying active underneath Shikotan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Shikotan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jorgensen's waist but Jorgensen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shikotan off to one side.

Jorgensen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shikotan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Jorgensen is looking to stand up but Shikotan isn't so interested in that idea.

Jorgensen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shikotan is proving hard to escape from.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I would just about give that final round to Kazuya Shikotan.
I think Shikotan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
