The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
von Helvete lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
von Helvete looks to land a combination. Jim sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Jim is rocked!
von Helvete fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
von Helvete shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

von Helvete gets caught flat footed, as Jim shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
von Helvete manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jim manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

von Helvete escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jim gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

von Helvete is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

von Helvete has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jim is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for von Helvete.

Jim is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. von Helvete knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

von Helvete is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jim is just riding it out for now. von Helvete eventually gives up the hold.

Jim is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. von Helvete can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
