The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiero shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ninja as he avoids it easily.
Ninja's corner calls for a 1-2. Ninja obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

and Santiero counters with a single leg into guard. Ninja didn't expect that.

Santiero is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Santiero drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Santiero jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ninja can't keep his opponent in guard - Santiero advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ninja is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Santiero scores with a couple of nice shots.

Santiero is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Santiero seems to be working for a kimura but Ninja defends the submission attempt.

Santiero is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ninja is just riding it out for now. Santiero eventually gives up the hold.

Santiero is working for a kimura but Ninja is defending it quite comfortably.
Ninja tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Santiero has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ninja wants to control but Santiero is having none of it.

Santiero has control of Ninja's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ninja regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ninja knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Santiero on the ground.

Santiero looking to isolate an arm here. Ninja doesn't see it coming and as Santiero extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Santiero!
