PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Peter Pan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Cartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Pan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Cartman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Cartman or perhaps it was just good defense by Pan which made him look bad.
Cartman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pan as he avoids it easily.

Pan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cartman!

Cartman is trying desperately to improve position.
Pan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cartman on the ground.

Pan lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Cartman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cartman is bucking up trying to escape but Pan cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Pan lands a big shot there that rocks Cartman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Peter Pan dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Cartman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pan won't be happy with that.

Cartman moves in looking to clinch but Pan pushes him off.

Pan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Pan thows a huge punch but Cartman dodges it nicely.

Cartman is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pan's back!

Peter Pan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Even with his hooks in, Cartman manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Cartman is looking to control Pan but Pan is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Pan is trying to get back to his feet but Cartman has full control of the position and if anything, Pan has just worked his way into a worse spot.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cartman is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Pan is defending well though. Cartman let's go of the attempt for now.

A close second round but Eric Cartman will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Nice takedown defense from Pan. No joy for Cartman on that attempt.

Pan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Cartman is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pan scores with a couple of nice shots.

Cartman wants to sweep here but Pan controlling him for the moment.

Pan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Pan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cartman's head.
Pan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cartman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cartman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cartman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Pan postures up and lands a big shot to Cartman's brow.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cartman clinches but Pan breaks the clinch

and Pan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pan.
Cartman is trying to control the position but Pan postures up.
Cartman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cartman is looking to stand up but Pan isn't so interested in that idea.
Pan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Pan moves nicely into side control.
Pan lands a few punches from side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Peter Pan.
Well Pan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
