The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giunta misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Giunta throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Giunta connects with a looping right hand.
Giunta throws a lazy right hand but Putin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Putin looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Giunta avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Giunta not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Giunta is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Putin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Giunta is on top in guard.
Putin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Putin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Putin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Giunta doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Giunta manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Putin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
