Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Smith Wesson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Soo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soo tries to clinch up but Wesson circles away and keeps his distance.
Wesson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Wesson moves into range and clinches up with Soo.
Wesson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Wesson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Soo is trying to keep an underhook but Wesson manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wesson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Soo looks like he's trying to stand up.
Wesson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wesson slips a nice elbow through Soo's hands, connecting with Soo's forehead.

Wesson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Soo pushes Wesson off but Wesson dives into side control.
Soo pushes Wesson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wesson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Soo takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The referee asks Wesson politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Wesson prefers to stall for the moment though.

Wesson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wesson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
A lull in the action here.

Wesson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Soo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Wesson advances nicely into full mount.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
