PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sean Williams told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Storm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sean Williams!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Storm closes the distance and pushes Williams back into the cage.

Williams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Williams scores a takedown into full mount!
Williams avoids the attempt from Storm to control.
Storm really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Storm is working hard here to advance position.

Williams is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Storm to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Storm shrugs it off.
Storm sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Storm wants to get back to his feet.

Storm is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Williams pulls his head out easily.
Storm is not content to let Williams control the position.
Storm is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Williams's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Williams's back!
Storm is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Storm gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Storm gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Storm apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Storm tries to clinch but Williams moves out of range.
Storm misses with a takedown

and Williams counters with a single leg into guard. Storm didn't expect that.
Storm lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Williams!

Storm trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Storm controlling from the full mount.
Storm looking to ground and pound but Williams is blocking nicely.
Williams is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams tries to hold on but Storm pushes him away.
Williams is squirming around, avoiding Storm's attempts to control the action.
Storm is landing with some decent strikes but Williams is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
A nice elbow there by Storm.
Storm trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Storm mounts Williams! Really nice guard pass there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Storm throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Williams because Storm loaded up on that one.
Storm lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Storm unloads with some shots from mount but Williams bucks and avoids them well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Storm trying to control but he's not successful this time.
A nice elbow there by Storm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Storm dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Storm tries to clinch but Williams is having none of it.
Williams throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Storm tries to work over Williams's front leg with a kick but Williams checks it.
Storm swinging wildly here.

Williams is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Storm's half guard.
Storm avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Williams.
Storm is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Williams's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Williams's back!
Storm throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Williams!
Williams is keeping busy.
Storm has Williams flattened out and is raining down punches.

Storm trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Williams doesn't escape.
Storm trying to control momentarily.
Storm misses with a punch to the head.
Williams is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Storm throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Williams is really stuck here.

Storm has got one arm under Williams's chin. This could be trouble... Williams trying to control the other hand but Storm gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Williams has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jim Storm!
