Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dele Obasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sigmund Royal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dele Obasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sigmund Royal!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Obasi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Obasi wants to pass the guard but Royal is defending well.
Royal has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Obasi is working away from the top position though.
Obasi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Royal's head.
Royal is trying to get back to full guard.

Royal is not content to let Obasi control the position.
Royal wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Obasi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Obasi lands in his opponent's guard.

Royal is working an open guard so Obasi takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Obasi winds up and cracks Royal with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Royal tries for a takedown but Obasi sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Obasi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Obasi showed some decent athleticism there.

Obasi is working for a kimura but Royal is defending it quite comfortably.

Obasi lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Obasi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Obasi fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Royal has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Obasi.
Royal looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Obasi works his foot free and advances to mount.
Royal is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Royal is trying to escape the mount.

Royal is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Obasi has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Royal's face.

Royal is looking to improve his position but Obasi isn't that keen on the idea.

Obasi is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Obasi extends the arm and Royal is forced to tap!
