The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stern tries for a takedown but Ekbom sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ekbom pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Stern scores with a takedown into Ekbom's guard.
Stern wants to control from the top but Ekbom keeps moving.
Ekbom really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stern. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stern stands and throws Ekbom's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ekbom is looking to reverse the position.
Ekbom is trying to control Stern's posture but Stern avoids it.
Ekbom is trying to get back to half guard.

Stern tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stern has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Stern is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ekbom has escaped the position, nice work there.

Ekbom looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stern is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stern stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ekbom swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Stern pushes down on Ekbom's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Stern is looking to advance position but Ekbom won't allow it.
Ekbom is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Stern's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Stern's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stern rolls, trying to escape but Ekbom keeps control of the position.

Ekbom slips a nice elbow through Stern's hands, connecting with Stern's forehead.
Stern is looking to control Ekbom's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stern avoid being mounted?
Stern moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Stern bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ekbom's guard.

Stern perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Stern frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Stern throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Ekbom has his hands clasped together but Stern breaks the hold and Ekbom is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Stern!
